After much consideration (and a few DMS), I decided that there was something missing from my training plans. Particularly in the half marathon department. Time goals in the half marathon can become very fine, and it’s normal for someone to sign up for a race not knowing if they are going to run 1:30, 1:45, or 2 hours. I would argue it’s really a matter of what they want to do.
Nevertheless, below I have delivered what *will* get you across the line in 1 hour and 45 minutes (if proper paces, mileage, and intervals are completed). I have designed this plan off of the 2-hour HM plan, as the mileage requirements are quite similar. All that’s left is to add controlled intensity when needed. Lucky for you—you don’t need to know when that intensity is needed anymore. I have baked it in for you.
If you find you can not keep up with the intensity or are missing splits, this plan (and all my plans) are meant to be interchangeable. Running too slow for the pace requirements? Open up the 2 hour plan. Finding the pace requirements too easy? Open up the 1:30 plan. Finding that too easy? DM me for coaching, we will have some fun.
A 1:45 half marathon is the perfect time to aim for if:
It’s your first race and you are/were a lifelong athlete
You have ran a 2:00-2:10 Half Marathon prior
You can run a ~25-27min 5K
Let’s dive in.
