Searching around X and other forums on the interwebs for all things running-related, you will find discourse about long run theory, threshold workouts, carb intake, speed blocks, lactate levels and anything else that is flashy to the masses.
But one thing that seems to get left out is the important of the “medium run”. Yes, every new runner knows about long slow runs, long run progressions, and everything that deals with running for a long period of time. We even have a reserved day for it each week in our schedules.
You also know well by this point about outputting high quality and high intensity shorter sessions. Same goes for your average 50-60 minute run—your “daily training” mileage.
But what about the in-between sweet spot?
This leads us to the medium run.
