Welcome! This is Chapter 1 of my E-Book series titled 'Why Your Shoes Matter: What Shoes to Wear, When to Wear Them, and How it Impacts Your Training.’ This initial Chapter will be free, for all subscribers to read freely. In it, I will be covering the history of running shoes, how we got to where we are today, and how it impacts you as the consumer (and runner).
This is fascinating, and as an off and on runner for the past 30 years, I totally missed the revolution in shoes. I did the whole barefoot running thing back in the day (both barefoot and with Vibram 5 Fingers) and it cleared up a lot of injuries that I had accumulated with 2009 era running shoes. I eventually gravitated to Altra racing flats which kept me as injury free as anything (still too much wear and tear but much better than with trainers). But now ... wow. I've tried a bunch of these shoes, just got some Nike Infinity 4s which I love, I've never run this much without pain. It really is a new era in running tech.
Goes to show how much is out there, brands are hitting on every niche. Add the quality of the new technology, and there’s a shoe for everyone out there to run comfortably in.
So far I've tried: Pegasus 39, Clifton 9, Infinity 4, Peregrin 13 (yes, I read your recommendations). They are all wildly different from each other, and each is far better in speed and comfort/injury prevention than anything I've ever tried. Looking forward to future installments of your ebook and excuses to try more shoes!
